Business Wushu :: Level 1 of 5

Level 1 :: Physical / Competitive

  • This is where two adversaries meet in the woods to settle a dispute or conflict they have.
  • They do so by bludgeoning each other physically.
  • One decides they are the winner, the one that does not get up from the ground the loser.
  • Very inefficient.
  • Both really lose in the process
  • This is the prevailing paradigm that the business world runs right now – the battle of the brands, championship trophies, wars.
  • Prevailing emotions: revenge, ego, fear, being right

Stay tuned for #2 in this Wushu Series.

Lessons in Leadership :: Jan 21st

I attended my first conference last year and it was phenomenal. Bob Proctor was the keynote speaker and the energy and sharing of ideas was a delight to experience.

John Wooden on Effective Coaching

“A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment.”images

There are so few in the history of coaching that have been able to do this effectively. One of the primary reason is how important presence and equipoise is in the coaching process. One must be in a state of intuition to know when to move and what to do, be centered and balanced in thought and deliver the right message to the right person at the right time.

Since our egos are delicate, the way the message is delivered is far more important than the message itself. Meaning the state of mind of the coach needs to be one of sincere and empathetic honesty, without a trace of self-interest.
