You might think you know how to tie your shoes but I guarantee you’re doing it wrong. If your laces come undone or end up laying vertically on your shoes go see the way that Ian Fieggen does it. He is the de facto internet authority on all things shoelace related.

I am about as much of a “home workout” person as I am a blogger, but I am on a journey that is turning out to be pretty cool. I started P90X in early November of 2009. I’ve never done a home workout before in my life, (I’m a real athlete) but I’d seen these P90X infomercials for 2 years, and was always enticed by them (especially since I’ve traded my cleats for a laptop, and knee pads for dental insurance)
It’s not advertised as easy. They say it’s hard-core. It is. (Good, so am I.) It’s not advertised as quick. It’s 90 days (that’s three full months). You feel every day of it. I am on day 39 and my glutes are sore. So are my lats… And my back… And my shoulders…
This didn’t begin as a New Year’s resolution, however, now that the new year has begun it feels great to have momentum where others are cringing at their uphill battles. Shoot, I’ve got so many workouts behind me, I’m in a great rhythm and fully confident of success.
It feels great to commit to something. Really commit. And it feels great to come through. Really come through. My journey is 90 days long, but every day is a fight to make the time, and a fight to bring the energy. But every time I do, I feel like I won something. Every time I do, I go to bed knowing that today, I kept a promise I made to no one other than myself.
The obvious benefit here is that I will be in better shape when I finish than I was when I started. Significantly better shape. What they don’t advertise is that that means physically AND spiritually/mentally/emotionally. I have changed into a better version of myself, and I’m not nearly done (okay, I am halfway done), but here’s what I know so far:
- It is a powerful thing to make a personal commitment and keep it.
- Working out makes you tired, but it boosts your energy for all things.
- Body, Mind, and Spirit are all connected. Change one for the better, and you change them all for the better.
